Exploration: Hands on activities or experiments
Explanation: Students are given a chance to explain their understanding of the new material
Elaboration: Students apply their understanding by additional activities
Evaluation- evaluate student's progress

This model promotes inquiry in the science classroom, helps the teacher identify what the students know about science, and helps students to modify their previous notions as part of the conceptual change experienced during participation in the model.
